Description
Dale Cottage is a delightful 200 year old 2 bedroom stone cottage in the heart of the Peak District National Park village of Youlgreave. The cottage has been completely renovated in 2009 with a new bathroom ,new doors and double glazed windows and has views over Bradford Dale. It has thick stone walls that make it cosy in the winter and cool in the summer with the added benefit of an open fire for those colder nights. Dale Cottage has a spacious sitting room with an open fire, a storage heater and electric radiator. There’s a piano, a flat screen TV, a CD player and IPOD dock, a sofa and chair and dining table. There are games and books for adults and children, a telephone and, at extra cost, wi-fi access for your laptop.
The kitchen is modern with fan oven and hob, microwave and fridge.
Upstairs, there are two rooms, one with a kingsized bed and a little room with a small double bed.
The bathroom has bath, power shower, loo, basin and underfloor heating.
Outside: There is a coal and log shed and an outhouse for the washing machine, tumble dryer and garden furniture – recliners, parasol, table and BBQ. At the bottom of the small garden, there’s the original outside loo! The garden overlooks Bradford Dale to the sheep-dotted hills beyond. The Dale houses a multitude of wildlife - water voles, kingfishers, dippers, winter wagtails and all sorts of ducks. A walk in one direction leads you to Middleton-by-Youlgrave, while in the other direction, you can take an evening stroll down to Alport, returning via a Youlgrave pub for an evening drink or meal.
General Information: • Linen and towels provided. • Bookings are Saturday to Saturday from 3pm. • Dogs are an extra £20 per week. • Please note that smoking is not permitted anywhere in the cottage • Not suitable for those with mobility problems due to steep cobbled path. • Wi-fi access is an extra £12 per week.
Local area: Youlgreave is off the A6 between Matlock and Bakewell. It’s an ancient ridge village with old lead miners’ cottages set off paths leading down to Bradford Dale, one of the most beautiful in the Peaks. Beautiful walks set off in all directions to places like Robin Hood's Stride, Haddon Hall, Monyash or Lathkill Dale. The Limestone Way goes through the Dale for serious walkers or for strollers, there are short round walks taking in local villages and spectacular countryside. It has the best well dressings in Derbyshire – five in all which are up for the week which includes midsummer’s day every June. Also...
