Open air ice skating will be coming to Matlock’s Hall Leys Park later this month.
The award-winning park’s will be holding its coolest attraction of the year for three days between Friday, November 18 and Sunday, November 20.
Organiser and main sponsor Irfan Shabir, who owns Maazi Indian restaurant in Matlock, said businesses across the Matlock had come together to host the town’s " biggest event of the year" .
He added: "It will be a spectacular event, bringing together the businesses and the community."
The artificial ice pad – measuring 14 metres by 15 metres – will be open to the public from 12noon to 8pm on all three days..
Over 70 skaters can use the ice rink at a time and skates will be available for hire on site.
Monk Bar, in Dale Road, is also sponsoring the event and staff will be serving mulled wine in the park.
The three-day extravaganza will also see craft stalls in the park, food provided by Maazi restaurant, activities and music.
Mr Shabir said he was inspired to host the event after seeing the crowds turn out for the popular penny farthing racing in Hall Leys, which he also sponsored.
He added: "The penny farthing racing was a great success and it brought lots of people to Matlock.
"Families really appreciated something happening in the park and said we should do more things like that. It’s great for the town and brings people together."
Mr Shabir said he hoped to use the park as a venue for more events in the future including plans for a live music showcase.
Ten businesses are involved in the Ice Skating Spectacular including the Cafe in the Park and Matlock Ford.
Mr Shabir said: "They were all keen to get involved.
"They are passionate about Matlock and have businesses in the town so they always like to help.
"We want to plan more events for the long term.
"The park is a beautiful venue and it is centrally located.
"We are expecting well over 5,000 people will come along and many businesses will be opening specially on the Sunday."
Ice skating will cost £3 for children and £4 for adults.
