Close to Darley Dale Station from where the steam heritage line runs and Whitworth Park, Darley Bridge is a good base from which to explore the Derwent Valley Heritage Way.  You can spot wildlife as the village straddles the River Derwent and perhaps stop off in one of the country pubs close by. The small country town of Matlock is only a short drive away as is the resort of Matlock Bath from where you can climb the Heights of Abraham or take a cable car across the gorge.
