Luxury Holiday Cottages In Hilton
Hilton is an ideal place in which to rent one of our delightful luxury holiday cottages. Situated on the old Derby to Uttoxeter road and close to the rural delights of the Peak District, the village boasts Wakelyn, a fine half-timbered house, said to have hosted Mary Queen of Scots on her journey to imprisonment in Tutbury Castle. Hilton village has several pubs including the 15th century Old Talbot inn and the more modern Hilton Hotel. The present village hall opened in 1989, and a Wesleyan Methodist Chapel in the Main Street was built in 1841 and is still a thriving place of worship. There has been much new development in recent years, and Hilton is now a fast growing village, providing an attractive place to live for people working in Derby and surrounding districts. The old Hilton gravel works are now owned by the Derbyshire Naturalist Trust and are a bird sanctuary and a nature reserve. Hilton is a good choice for renting one of our luxury holiday cottages from which you can explore the Peak District.
