History...
Originally a malt house dating back to the seventeenth century, the property was the first cheese factory co-operative in Derbyshire, and started manufacturing cheese in 1873 under the auspices of the High Sheriff J.G. Crompton. The property has been empty since 1945 and in renovating the Cheese Factory every effort was made to retain the original features such as the oak beams and lime ash floor. All the rooms have benefited from the skills of a leading lighting designer whilst the furnishings represent the touch of interior design at its very best. Externally, there is a large and totally private garden with more than adequate parking for six cars.
Accommodation...
There is an outbuilding next to the kitchen, which is ideal for wet coats and boots, whilst outside there is a large private garden. Included in the cost are linen, towels, heating, electricity and logs.
The village of Duffield is two miles away and provides a full range of shops together with a bus and train service.
Entering into the hall, complete with minstrel's gallery and cream log burner, one can turn to the right to two of the four en-suite bedrooms.
To the left is the dining room which seats 8 people comfortably and has a magnificent Blanc de Bierges spiral staircase leading up to a stunning sitting room (30ft x 15ft) with cream log burner, T.V., Hi-Fi, DVD and Sky TV.
Also off the dining room is a luxury fitted hand-made kitchen in maple, complete with black granite worktops, hob, oven, microwave, dishwasher, washing machine, tumble dryer, fridge and freezer. There are two bedrooms downstairs (previously mentioned) and two bedrooms upstairs, all of which are en-suite (3 with king size beds and one with 2 single beds). The master bedroom is stunning with a huge en-suite bathroom consisting of large shower and roll top bath etc. All bedrooms have a wardrobe, dressing table and shower, one of which is
over a bath.
